FEMININITY

POCKET YOUR WORRY

For more than a century, women have complained about their lack or inadequacy of pockets. This gender divide between garments has caused frustration, questions and more. When we look at the pure form of a woman, we notice how despite her lack of such, she is treated as such - as a pocket. Through sex, pregnancy, and even emotional support. The many archetypes of women portrayed as a mother, wife, sister, friend - she is always expected to bare the weight of the problems and worries of people around her.

I invite you to write your worry on the slips provided, and choose one of three options: To Show, Burn or Hide. These actions can be likened to the typical housewife’s role in society and the home, where they use fire to cook, sew and hide away the holes in garments, and continue to display herself and the home in proper form.

Please post your slip in the pocket, unloading your worry. After this exhibition, I will perform the tasks that you have selected, and will document the process here.
